Drake grabs a leading 12 nods, while Chris Brown and R. Kelly are set to perform at June 30 awards showDrake hasn't dropped his 2013 album yet, but the Young Money hitmaker looks to reign over the rest of the calendar year. Not only is Drizzy a safe bet to earn a few platinum plaques after he drops his third LP, Nothing Was the Same, but odds are the Toronto MC will add a few statues to his collection as well now that he is nominated for a whopping 12 awards at the upcoming 2013 BET Awards.
On Tuesday (May 14), BET held a Los Angeles press conference and revealed that Drizzy is up for a dozen awards, including five separate nominations in the Video of the Year category for "Started From the Bottom," "HYFR" and his contributions to 2 Chainz's "No Lie," A$AP Rocky's "F---in' Problems" and Kendrick Lamar's "Poetic Justice."
Chris Brown and R. Kelly were also announced as performers, and "Friday" actor Chris Tucker will be the host, when it airs live June 30.
Drake isn't the only big nominee: Both 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar earned eight noms apiece, A$AP Rocky and Jay-Z each have five, and Justin Timberlake and Miguel have four each.
