Angelina Jolie's brave medical journey is far from over.
The humanitarian and mother of six revealed on Monday night
that she recently had a preventive double mastectomy after finding out
she carried the BRCA1 gene. Due to this mutated gene, Jolie learned
there was an 87% chance that she would get breast cancer and a 50%
chance she'd develop ovarian cancer.
Now, People
magazine reports that Jolie, 37, will undergo surgery to remove her
ovaries. Some doctors recommend patients do this before the age of 40 or
when a woman is done having children, though it may trigger early
menopause.
